Greetings from the Parish Committee! This new church year brings a few changes to the Parish Committee. The Chair is now Norah Mulvaney-Day, and we have added the new position of Vice-Chair to provide leadership support, which will be held by John Portz. New members Missy Shay and Martha Pedersen join returning members, Sue Sours and Kelly Morton. We all thank outgoing chair Jean Merkl for her leadership over the last 3 years. In addition to regular church business, the Parish Committee will be participating in several broader, ongoing church initiatives. Envisioning the future of Faith Exploration continues to be a focus, and we will continue to work closely with Rev. Sophia and the Faith Exploration committee to participate in this work. Our engagement in “Grappling with Our History” is an important ongoing effort that we look forward to exploring as FPW forms a working group to guide next steps (see more in this Weekly News below). Parish Committee meets the second Wedn. of every month, and the deadline for new monthly agenda items is the second Sunday before our meeting. Parish Committee
The church is governed by the Parish Committee, made up of seven members elected by the congregation at the Annual Meeting for a term of three years. The Parish Committee sets policy, hires staff, and manages the overall direction and business of the church.
