The next step in our search for our new settled minister is to solicit nominations from the congregation for members to make up our Ministerial Search Committee.  Members of the Parish and Nominating Committees are reaching out to speak to every member and friend of First Parish for their thoughts.  Please help us by signing up for one of the virtual small group sessions listed below.

Members of the Search Committee must be acknowledged Members of First Parish. They should be trusted by the congregation to listen and to represent their interests in the search process – see the attached document for more prompts to guide your thinking.  Serving on the Search Committee requires a significant commitment of time and effort.  Members will participate in a retreat and training about the process, survey the congregation about their vision and hopes for a new ministry, prepare information about our church, interview candidates over several weekends, select a final candidate, and negotiate an offer.  More information on the timeline and process can be found on our website and in the UUA Settlement Handbook.

Forming our Search Committee is an important step, and we ask for your participation and thoughtful deliberation in the process.  Please think about one to four people whom you would like to nominate to serve on the committee.  Members, please save the date of June 7 for an online special congregational meeting to elect the Search Committee.

In the coming week, we will be holding a series of small group virtual meetings, facilitated by a member of the Parish Committee or Nominating Committee.  There will be time to discuss the qualities needed for someone to serve on a Ministerial Search Committee and the commitment required of its members, as well as a chance to ask lingering questions about the search process.  At the end of the meeting, you will be asked to confidentially submit your nomination to the facilitator. All nominations should be submitted by May 25, 2020.

Please choose one of the following times and register by filling out the linked form.  If you are not able to attend any of these meetings, please fill out this form and a volunteer will contact you directly to answer your questions and receive your nominations. Please RSVP at least two days in advance of your desired meeting.
