As Rev Sophia says at the beginning of our services, “Welcome Welcome Welcome” to our new minister and the new church year! It is wonderful we have now begun this new path together.

Beginning the church year with our first multi-platform services is an amazing accomplishment! The AV team has done a spectacular job planning, installing and figuring out all the new technologies. Seeing our services being held in the sanctuary is a vision come to fruition; we thank you so very much!  As some hearts may have sunk a little to not be there in person we also celebrate that we are on the road to simultaneous in-person and virtual gathering!

The Parish Committee is aware of concerns over the Delta variant, and also excited to begin meeting in person again.  A small group has been formed, comprised of three members of the Parish committee and a member each from the AV team and B&G. This group’s work is centered on setting protocols for in person meetings, events and church services. They are reviewing UUA Standards, the dimensions and air flow of our sanctuary, and discussing how other churches are configuring their service.  Our goal is to support our Minister, church staff and AV team in a safe environment for multi-platform services from our sanctuary and design a safe welcoming process for in-person attendance to begin this fall. Faith, hope and patience lead our way.

Your feedback is welcome. Please feel free to reach out to the Parish Committee at parish@fpwatertown.org with any comments, questions, or concerns. Following the service on October 3rd, there will also be an opportunity to join a breakout room at our virtual social hour to discuss the multi-platform experience. We look forward to the congregation’s feedback and will report back in our October Arbella article.

Continuing the practice from last year, the Parish Committee has established liaison roles between our committee and the other committees at FPW. Along with quarterly Parish Council meetings we hope this will continue to keep the lines of communication open.

The Parish Committee will continue to host Outdoor Social Hours after church. The Fellowship Committee is also busy planning some very exciting events for the church year, including some hybrid events, so stay tuned! The coming year is full of exciting events, fun(d)raisers, and leading the way is the ongoing HRW Walk/Run/Bike Fun(d)raiser and our first multi-platform event, the HRW Wade in the Water benefit concert!  Also this weekend look for FPW members at our table the Fair on the Square!

In Joy,
Your Parish Committee
