Welcome, Welcome! It is the end of summer and I am excited to soon be back doing music with you all. In July, Guy and I were fortunate to be able to be part of the Association of Unitarian Universalist Music Ministries’ (AUUMM) annual national conference in Atlanta. We were surrounded by music professionals, amazing musicians that have high levels of creativity. We received daily worship services that were new, exciting, transformative, and awe-inspiring. We feel restored and ready to bring all that energy plus new ideas to all of us here at First Parish!
Is this is the time for you to be in the choir?—and I hope it is—First Parish choir rehearsals will begin on September 11th, Thursday, from 6:45 to 8:30 pm in the church sanctuary. I am adding a 15-minute social time before the actual rehearsal starts at 7 pm.
Singing in the choir is beneficial in so many ways. You get: a body/brain boost, stress relief, an intentional, deep-dive into spirituality, aerobic movement in singing, a sense of belonging to a community of caring, actualized musicians. Your being in the choir MATTERS! YOU matter. Not sure if this is for you? Give it a try. Find out about Guy’s amazing practice files to help you learn your parts. Find out about mixing your voice into the composite sound that is better than you might be expecting. I hope you will want to come back the next week.
This year’s theme is Intention and the theme for September is Belonging. These two come together perfectly in our choir rehearsals.
Hope to see you!
