Four people with taper candles light chalice framed by two rings

From our new Director of Faith Exploration

May 30, 2025

Dear FPW,

As your incoming Director of Faith Exploration, I have recently had the opportunity to meet more and more people from your church. I am so grateful for these moments to begin learning about the stories you carry, the futures you imagine, and the many threads that hold you as a community.

These moments have looked like planning for a June 6 family event, hearing what Faith Exploration looks like on a typical Sunday, connecting with folks to plan a fall retreat for the Faith Exploration Committee, and discussing monthly worship themes for the upcoming year.

What I have taken from these conversations is a clear and collective commitment to the families of this church and the project of faith exploration. I look forward to continuing these conversations while inviting more and more voices into this circle you all have held and that now we will hold together.

I will meet more of you on June 6 during an evening event for families. This will be a time for me to introduce myself to many of the FPW children, youth, and families. I am sure this will be a busy evening, and I am hopeful it will help us feel more grounded as we look ahead to the next church year.

Beyond these meetings and the family event, I am excited to really get started on August 4. This is when I officially begin at FPW. Before then I will complete my term as the Intern Minister at First Church in Belmont. They have taken seriously their role as a learning congregation to prepare me for ministry and have offered much in the way of personal and professional growth.

Over the course of the next year, as I get settled in Watertown, I will undertake the next stages on my pathway to ordination. I’m hopeful there will be a moment or two to celebrate and I look forward to sharing those with you.

So as we flow into summer I want you to know how thrilled I am to be with you. Taking on the role of Director of Faith Exploration comes after much training, education, and experience. I feel ready to start this shared ministry. I also know there will always be much for me to learn.

We are on this journey together and together we will make this journey.

Please feel free to reach out to me at faith-exploration@fpwatertown.org. And please know that I will respond to any emails before June 10 and again when I officially start on August 4.

Be well,
KYLE
