Faith Exploration – May 2026

May 2, 2026

This past Sunday in Faith Exploration we assembled 26 meal kits as part of our month-long project that so many of you donated ingredients to. This amount was so voluminous that the Community Fridge did not have enough space for them, but thankfully Sue Twombly volunteered to return later in the day to drop off the rest. So much thanks to everyone who helped make this project happen. Our Faith Exploration classes are picking new recipes for May and I’ll share the needed ingredients in next week’s newsletter. This project, although just one month old, seems to have landed in a sweet spot of interest and capacity for our community, and I am very excited to see it continue.

Along with continuing the meal kit project through May, our Faith Exploration classes will focus on the month’s theme of rituals. This will mean learning about the history of the flaming chalice, understanding water and flower communion, and even helping prepare for that Sunday ritual of coffee hour. What I hope this month provides to our children and youth is a way of understanding Unitarian Universalism as one rich with rituals, and rituals that invite participation.

And looking ahead to next month, the Faith Exploration Committee and I are hosting an End of Year Family Dinner. One of the purposes of this dinner is to gather some feedback and insight both about this past church year, but also about the future. We will have some posterboards set up for people of all ages to leave comments and ideas. We will also share an updated child safety policy at this dinner, as well. The End of Year Family Dinner will take place on Friday, June 5 from 5:30-7 pm. Please RSVP so we know how much food to provide.

Lastly, I must admit that this is a full and busy month for me. There is planning for my ordination happening on Sunday, May 31 (to which you are all invited) with much help from my planning committee that includes Laura Horn and Kelly Morton. And there are also some family commitments, as well. One of these commitments means I won’t be able to attend this year’s variety show, which I know is a treasured event here. I wish all of the participants my best in sharing their gifts with our community, and I look forward to joining you next year for this ritual of creativity.

Thank you,
KYLE
