Get Involved
Whether you are new, or not-so new, we welcome you to get involved in the life of First Parish.
Stay Informed with Happenings at First Parish
Subscribe to the “Arbella,” our weekly newsletter, which will be emailed to you typically on Fridays. Details of activities are posted in the newsletter.
Follow the First Parish of Watertown Facebook page for announcements. For casual conversation, request to join the Facebook First Parish of Watertown Community Group by contacting Alyssa Lawson or Sue Sours.
Connect to a Caring Community
Looking for support? See our Caring Circles (email care @ fpwatertown.org) or Pastoral Care provided by the minister (email minister @ fpwatertown.org) for ways this community provides help in difficult times.
Annual Events
Our First Parish Community gathers for a number of potlucks, an annual service auction, and other events throughout the year. During COVID-19, we’ve taken it all virtually! Check the calendar, Facebook, or watch the weekly newsletter for announcements.
Ongoing Groups
First Parish has a variety of groups that meet to share interests, run programs, and deepen our community. Have an interest that’s not mentioned below? Consider starting a group! Contact fellowship @ fpwatertown.org
Families of Color group
Open to all who have one or more family members identifying as of color, and who are interested in creating an environment in which we can learn, support, share resources and talk. See the newsletter for announcements.
Garden group
Love gardening? Help in planting, weeding, and taking care of our Memorial Garden. Join by emailing fellowship @ fpwatertown.org
Musically inclined?
Join choir, the band, or see Charlyn, our music director, to play during a service.
The First Parish band meets informally during the year, culminating in a rockin’ performance at the Annual Talent Show.
Interested in meeting other new to First Parish folks?
Newcomers and not-so-newcomers alike are welcome to join in social events geared for newcomers. Virtual socials will be held on Zoom until we can return to in-person events such as newcomer breakfasts.
New members are welcomed 2-3 times a year at New Member Welcome events where new members are introduced to the congregation as part of worship service. What’s membership about? Check out “Become a Member.”
Want to roll up your sleeves and get into committee work?
We welcome you to join us! While the formal nominating is in the late winter, you can join many committees at any time. Learn more about committees that make First Parish run!
