Now that businesses are beginning to re-open in Massachusetts, you may be wondering when the First Parish building will again be available for meetings, services, rental uses, and other gatherings. Here is an important update for you.

  • The church building is currently closed for all use, including, but not limited to church committee meetings, community organization meetings, rentals, and all other gatherings. Staff will coordinate their occasional use of the building with Wendy and each other. Church members who have other duties in the building should coordinate their access to the building in advance with Allison or Wendy.
  • The building will remain closed until the Parish Committee has developed a comprehensive re-opening policy, informed by the latest state advisories, CDC guidelines, and advice from the Unitarian Universalist Association.
  • The primary goal of the re-opening policy will be to assure as much as possible the safety and well-being of all users of the building, regardless of their age and ability.
  • The policy will take into consideration group size, requirements for social distancing within the building, the need for masks and/or other protective gear to be worn, a comprehensive plan for cleaning after each building use, and other relevant factors. The Parish Committee will carefully and thoughtfully develop this policy in concert with staff and other church members, and will announce it as soon as possible. Meanwhile we welcome and encourage your participation in our online services and other online opportunities. We thank you for your patience and cooperation.
