First Parish of Watertown

Adult Programs

The Religious Education Committee in conjunction with the minister, student minister, DRE and Fellowship Committee organizes classes and activities for adults in the First Parish community.

Classes

Please check our newsletter, The Arbella, for specific details and times on all classes and groups.   Our student minister Jolie Olivetti plans on leading two discussion groups on the book, Waking Up White by Debby Irving on November 22 (6:00 p.m.), and December 1 (7:00 p.m.).

New UU

People who are new to Unitarian Universalism are especially invited to a class held twice a year on Sunday mornings, beginning the week following the newcomer breakfast. Members of the group begin by sharing what brought them here, and then the class covers UU history, beliefs, and organizational structure. This is an excellent way for newcomers to meet others. Dates will be announced. Contact Rev. Mark Harris

Other opportunities

Additional educational opportunities may include classes taught by our ministers and/or student minister, or DRE.
We also sponsor other workshops or films on a variety of issues. Watch the newsletter for details.

Ongoing Groups

Book Group

This is a revitalized group that reformed in 2012. See Newsletter for details about meeting times.

Social events

There are many social events during the church year. Special events always include: Service Auction and Potluck on January 30, and the Annual Dinner and Talent Show on April 9  – – – This is always a fun, interesting place to be with good company and good food!

Potluck suppers
Several times each year, we offer potlucks so that people can come together for shared food and music.
